Supreme Kate

The New York Mega brand Supreme are undefeated kings of viral marketing. When the Supreme T-Shirt depicting Kate Moss launched, it sold out so fast and became so impossible to get hold of before most people even knew what was happening. A few hours after the print was introduced to the world, they were being flogged on ebay for ten times the price. Much more than a skateboarding brand then, but a force to be reckoned with.

Their collaborations with famous faces - previously including Ga Ga, Kermit the Frog and P Diddy - are cleverly picked and then forcibly circulated, starting the old fashioned way ... with plastering every surface around town with their posters. The new Kate Moss campaign, shot by Alasdair McLellan and styled by Jane How, has already been spotted in New York and London and will no doubt be rolling out across the rest of the world like a Supreme tornado imminently.

I love the simplicity of the campaign: shorts and a t-shirt. It shows so much confidence. But then, what else do you need exactly, when you have Kate Moss and a brand like Supreme?

Tiv Lyler's INXS Cover for Givenchy

One of the best parts about the age gap between Stu and I is that we get to swap musical references. INXS is one of my favourite bands now, but if it hadn't been for Stu I probably would never have had a clue who they were, since I was a very small child during the height of their success. I was on my way to the kitchen when the ad for Givenchy Very Irresistible Electric Rose Perfume aired, and it was the cover of INXS's 'Need You Tonight' that had me back peddling towards the TV.

Never in a million years did I expect to see Liv Tyler rocking it out. I stood and gawped like an imbecile and then rushed over to my computer to find the full video. The track, which was produced by the New York based David Andrew Sitek, is Liv Tyler's singing debut - despite the fact that she's the daughter of the infamous Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler. The sultry riff is amped up with rocky guitars and a pounding drum beat, combining perfectly with Liv's sexy, self assured vocal. Accompanied by a beautiful monochromatic video, shot by John Renck, which is all smoky eyes, black lips and wind machines - little snippets of the full version become the perfume's TV ad campaign.

It's a departure from their norm - Liv Tyler has been modelling for Givenchy since 2003 - but in all honesty I think it's the best she's ever looked and it's certainly a stand out amongst the usual perfume advert. It's edgier, bolder and more editorial - pretty much a stroke of genius, really.

Go take a look at the full video here, and turn the volume up.

Clémence Poésy For G-Star

Following in the recent steps of Liv Tyler and Bond actress Gemma Arterton, French It-Girl Clémence Poésy - or to the Harry Potter geeks amongst you, Fleur Delacour of Beauxbatons Academy Of Magic, the only girl champion of the Twiwizard Tournament in The Goblet Of Fire - was named the new face of G-Star at the tail end of 2011. But now the first images are starting to surface. If you don't recognise the actress from Harry Potter, 127 Hours or Gossip Girl, then maybe her face will ring a bell amongst the best dressed pages of fashion magazines. A staple at Chanel shows each season, and a known ambassador of fashion, Clémence's style is what drew G-Star to her.

The G-Star Spring/Summer 2012 Campaign was shot by renowned photographer and film maker Anton Corbijn in Lisbon, also featuring the talented Vincent Gallo. Even at first glance it's easy to see why Poésy was cast to lead it. At first, perhaps, the individual and petite French actress may not have appeared the obvious choice for a more urban brand with their sexy campaigns but these photos show Clémence has brought her own modern take on strong style with undeniable femininity with the sort of easy dishevelled grace that only a French girl could pull off. The campaigns are simple: stark black and white images that just ooze effortless chic and rock n' roll. Just like Clémence Poésy herself.

Hiut Denim

Clare and David Hieatt, the couple that created Howies in 1995 out of their home in Wales, have now founded a new denim company. Simplifying their surname to it's basic phonetics gave them their company name - Hiut - and the owls that lived in the barn they're based in inspired the brand logo. Bringing many of the same fundamental beliefs that founded Howies, Hiut Jeans are bringing back to life the old denim expertise of Cardigan Bay.

The population there is 4000 and 400 of them are denim makers. Back in the day they made denim for everyone, but then with too much competition from the east, the trade became extinct. Hiut has not only based itself there, but has employed the same team of people that really know their denim. Hiut is making jeans, it's what they know, they're not going to try and be too clever and put on a collection at fashion week with coats and shirts and tailoring. Jeans - that's all the do.

I suppose you could say the jeans are reasonably pricey - but they're handmade, in Britain. These jeans are supposed to last you a lifetime - they're an investment - they're supposed to collect a million stories along the way and even be passed down along generations. In this vein, Hiut will fix any tears for free for five years, and then for a tiny charge after that. You're part of the team. Even when you order, you receive a little email telling you who exactly will be making your jeans, you get photos of the process with your jeans when they arrive too.

Another cool little add on is that your jeans have a unique code, which allows you to register it on the site, and then upload photos to your location, so that in years time, you can look back and see where your jeans have gone with you. Overall, Hiut seems a classic British grass routes company - full of soul and fiercely guarded ideals. It's not too often you find companies like this any more.

Adele for Vogue

When Adele first sent records from her debut album to radio stations, rumour has it (no pun intended), that she didn't include a picture with it. She's maintained since then that her image isn't important, her music is what people should focus on. She's a musician and not a cookie cutter pop star and I've always respected her for that. Even after dominating the charts all over the world, she hasn't succumbed to the pressure of the show biz industry and lost four stone and had her teeth done - she's been herself, and looked amazing doing so.

I've liked watching the incline of fashion shoots with Adele in the last year, which is arguably the most successful yet, but this editorial for Vogue shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott is exceptionally beautiful. I love the photography, the styling and I think Adele looks stunning.
